Karachi – Youth Hockey Club and Hanif Khan Hockey Club have booked their places in the final of the KHA Ramadan Inter Club Hockey Championship after securing contrasting victories in the semi-finals at the Olympian Hanif Khan and Dr. Junaid Ali Shah Sports Complex in Gulshan Iqbal, Karachi. The event is organized by the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA).
In the first semi-final, Youth Hockey Club triumphed over Police Boys Hockey Club with a 4-2 victory. The winners’ goals were scored by Noman (16th minute), Saadam Zaheer (20th minute), and Hammad (20th and 24th minutes). Police Boys Hockey Club’s Faheem Khan and Easa Khan each found the back of the net for their team.
The semi-final was attended by Olympian Iftikhar Syed, a member of the KHA Executive Committee, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. He expressed optimism about the future of hockey in Pakistan despite the sport’s current struggles. “We are not disappointed with the future of hockey. While the sport is going through a tough phase, we are confident that it will regain its former glory. To achieve this, it is crucial to promote competitions at the grassroots level. The Karachi Hockey Association is moving in the right direction,” said Iftikhar Syed.

In the second semi-final, Hanif Khan Eleven Hockey Club delivered a commanding 5-0 win against Rabbani Hockey Club. Hanif Khan Eleven’s goals were scored by Shahzaib Arbab (1st minute), Haris (9th minute), Asim Khan (12th minute), Shehbaz Haheer (16th minute), and Imran (19th minute).
Both teams will now face off in the final of the prestigious championship, which promises to be an exciting conclusion to the tournament. The event continues to highlight the importance of grassroots development in reviving Pakistan’s national game of hockey.
