WORLD SPACE WEEK 2023 PAKISTAN

Islamabad_Space is limitless, they say; a little motivation goes a long way, they say. These two ingredients have been used by SUPARCO, the national space agency of Pakistan during the UN’s global celebration of space, World Space Week 2023, in the right amounts to stir a wave of zeal and enthusiasm across educational institutions, space and science societies and general public.

The official facebook page of SUPARCO’s education and outreach office, SEAD (www.facebook.com/SEAD.Pakistan) is loaded with overwhelming images and videos of the young generation, celebrating Space Week 2023 in the best way possible. The little girls in the local schools in Skardu launching handmade rockets in the magnificent valleys, joining hands for a spacewalk in Kharpocho fort and recording space songs are enough to motivate and uplift our moods. The young kids in Gawader working together in their science labs, with limited facilities and bringing out mind blowing motorized space models can make anyone believe the fact that when there is a will there is a way.

The tremendous amount of efforts put in by local science and astronomy societies in Sindh to engage students and teachers in various hands on activities and space awareness lectures is in itself a remarkable achievement of SUPARCO’s engagement activities designed for WSW 2023.
The diverse individual contests designed to engage Pakistanis belonging to any walk of life provided equal opportunity to those who work in diverse fields not relevant to space but still have a love for space and astronomy.

The wave of enthusiasm and passion for exploring the limitless wonders of space can sustain and help set foundations for a growing space industry if SUPARCO keeps its engagement programs active and ongoing throughout the year, thereby not letting the passion fade away. The inclusiveness of the education and outreach scheme of SUPARCO is the most remarkable feat which seems to have been the major factor behind the success of World Space Week Pakistan not only this year but since the past many years. It can only get better from hereon.
