WhatsApp Now Allows You to Instantly Translate Messages Without Internet
The standout feature is that translations happen directly on your device, without needing an active internet connection.
ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp has started rolling out a long-awaited translation feature to Android users enrolled in its beta program. The feature, which was first spotted in development last year, is now available for users on beta version 2.25.12.25 and is expected to expand to more testers soon.
Translate Messages Without Internet
The standout feature is that translations happen directly on your device, without needing an active internet connection. Users simply need to download the required language pack, which allows for real-time translation without data usage or delays. A separate downloadable pack is also available to automatically detect the language of incoming messages and translate them accordingly.
Supported Languages and How They Work
At present, the feature supports five major languages — Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Hindi, and Russian. Users can enable automatic translation on a per-chat basis through the chat info screen or choose to manually translate individual messages via the message options menu.
Here is how it looks.

Accuracy and Privacy
Since WhatsApp uses lightweight on-device translation rather than cloud-based processing, the accuracy might not be as high as services like Google Translate. However, Meta has added a feedback option to help improve translations over time, all while keeping original and translated messages private.
Availability
This feature is currently available to a limited number of beta users. If you’re among them, check your app settings to see if the translation toggle is live. As always, user feedback will be crucial in refining the feature before a broader public release, whose launch date is still unconfirmed.
