West Indies announce 15-member squad for T20 World Cup

Shai Hope to Captain West Indies at T20 World Cup

Bridgetown: (Web Desk) – Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to begin on February 7 across Sri Lanka and India. According to reports, Shai Hope will lead the side after missing the recent series against Afghanistan due to his commitments in the SA20 league.

The squad features strong continuity, with 11 players retained from the 2024 T20 World Cup, providing experience and balance. The batting unit includes Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Johnson Charles, and captain Hope, while the all-round department is bolstered by former skipper Jason Holder and Sherfane Rutherford.

Shamar Joseph will spearhead the bowling attack alongside Jayden Seales and Quentin Sampson, with spin options provided by Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie. Opener Evin Lewis and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph miss out due to injuries.

They will begin their campaign against Scotland on February 7 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, before facing England on February 11 in Mumbai. Matches against Nepal and Italy are scheduled for February 15 and 19 respectively.
