ISLAMABAD: Former captain of the national cricket team, Wasim Akram, has offered his perspective on the ongoing debate surrounding the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In an interview with a prominent Indian sports website yesterday, Wasim Akram stated that he has been associated with teams in both leagues and believes that there is no comparison between the IPL and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

He commented, “The PSL is a massive brand in Pakistan, but the IPL is followed globally.”

When asked to choose between Karachi Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, Wasim Akram diplomatically selected both teams, showcasing his affiliation with the franchises.

However, his comments on the Pakistan Super League stirred up a reaction among fans, leading to a barrage of criticism directed at the former cricketer.

It is noteworthy that Wasim Akram is currently part of the commentary panel during the ongoing Test series between Pakistan and Australia. Simultaneously, he continues to fulfill responsibilities as the Director of Cricket for the Karachi Kings, a renowned franchise in the Pakistan Super League.
