Violent Protests in Azad Kashmir Lead to Deployment of Rangers, Joint Action Committees Demand Peace

Muzaffarabad: Following days of violent protests, the deployment of Rangers has been requested in Azad Kashmir. The decision came after clashes between police and demonstrators.

Meanwhile, across the state, a legislative proposal from the Public Action Committee is being debated in the assembly.

On the other hand, the central leadership of the Joint Action Committee in Azad Kashmir has disassociated itself from the violent incidents.

Sajid Jigwal, a member of the Joint Action Committee, stated, “We are peaceful people, and our movement is peaceful. We have been sitting here for 2 days, and there have been no incidents.”

Tauseef Mansoor, the leader of the Joint Action Committee, reiterated, “We are peaceful; neither has any window been broken nor has any glass shattered. The Joint Action Committee has no connection with the two or three incidents that occurred.”

In response to the call from the Public Action Committee, a long march, wheel jam, and strike have been observed for the fourth consecutive day in Azad Kashmir.

Due to the strike in Muzaffarabad, there is a shortage of food and drink items, and roads have been blocked for three days across all districts of Azad Kashmir.

The closure of medical stores due to the strike has created difficulties for patients.

It is worth mentioning that protests against high electricity prices and taxes are ongoing in Azad Kashmir.

The Public Action Committee has announced a long march from Mirpur to Muzaffarabad against inflation and taxes.
