Vehicles Without M-Tag Registration Barred from Motorways Started from today

NHMA Introduces Mandatory M-Tag Registration for Motorway Access, Enhancing Convenience and Traffic Flow

Islamabad: The National Highway and Motorway Authority (NHMA) has implemented a new policy making M-Tag registration mandatory for all vehicles accessing motorways, effective from February 5 today. This move aims to streamline traffic flow and enhance convenience for motorists at motorway entrance and exit points.

The introduction of the M-Tag, a digital toll collection system, is set to facilitate seamless access to Pakistan’s extensive motorway network. This includes major routes such as the Peshawar-Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M1), Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway (M4), Hakla-D.I. Khan Motorway (M14), Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3), Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5), and Hassanabdal-Mansehra Expressway (E35).

To acquire the M-Tag, motorists are required to visit the customer care center with their vehicle registration book/card and CNIC.

The NHMA emphasizes that vehicles without the M-Tag will not be permitted entry onto motorways after February 5, ensuring compliance with the new regulation.

In response to the implementation of this policy, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) and the NHA have issued important advisories to motorists. Firstly, drivers are urged to verify the successful completion of their M-Tag registration process to avoid penalties.

Additionally, in efforts to enhance safety during adverse weather conditions, motorists are strongly advised to utilize fog lights when traveling through dense fog. Moreover, individuals are encouraged to limit their travel on motorways to essential trips only, particularly during periods of reduced visibility due to fog.

The NHMA’s initiative to introduce mandatory M-Tag registration reflects a commitment to improving traffic management and ensuring a safer and more convenient travel experience for all motorists utilizing Pakistan’s motorway network.
