US woman ties knot with Pakistani man after embracing Islam

“I have received immense love and respect here,” she said with a smile.

ISLAMABAD: In a heartwarming story that began on social media and blossomed into a real-life commitment, a 47-year-old American woman, formerly known as Mendy, travelled all the way to Upper Dir, Pakistan, to marry a local youth after embracing Islam.

According to the a private news channel, the couple’s friendship started online and soon turned into love.

A few days ago, Mendy arrived in Pakistan, where she accepted Islam and chose the name “Zulekha Zaib” for herself—a name she selected personally.

Following her commitment and conversion, she tied the knot with Sajid Zaib, a man from a hilly area of Upper Dir.

Zulekha and Sajid have both confirmed their marriage, stating it was a mutual decision and that the wedding had been planned even before her arrival in Pakistan.

In a conversation with local media, Zulekha Zaib expressed her happiness and comfort in Pakistan, stating, “I came to Pakistan on my own free will, and I feel extremely happy here.”

She went on to describe Pakistan as a safe country for tourists and foreigners, encouraging others to visit without fear.

She also praised the hospitality of Pakistanis, especially the people of Dir, calling them “loving and respectful”.

“I have received immense love and respect here,” she said with a smile.

Her husband, Sajid Zaib, expressed great joy over having his friend and now wife by his side.

“We had already planned our marriage before she came to Pakistan,” he shared.

Sajid’s father also gave his full support to the union, saying, “As a father, I’ve accepted my son’s choice. Our whole family is happy with this marriage.”
