Trump Hails ‘Extraordinary’ US Military Operation in Venezuela

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump announced that the United States will control Venezuela until the transfer of power and that American oil companies will operate in the country. Speaking at a press conference in Florida, Trump also announced criminal charges against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and said that Maduro and his wife are being transferred to New York to face justice.

Trump stated that, under his instructions, the US military carried out an extraordinary operation in Venezuela’s capital, showcasing the country’s air, land, and naval power. He described the operation as a remarkable demonstration of US military strength.

The US president added that Maduro and his wife were captured in their bedroom during the operation. At the time of their arrest, Caracas was completely dark, with electricity cut off.

Trump compared the operation to previous US strikes, saying that targets like Qasem Soleimani, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and Iran’s nuclear facilities had been successfully hit with precision, claiming that no other country in the world could carry out such a feat.
