US urges G7 and EU tariffs on China and India for Russian oil.

The US pushes for global tariffs to cut off war funds, targeting major buyers of Russian oil.

G7 – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) -The US is asking its closest allies to take new steps against Russia. In a call with Group of Seven (G7) finance leaders, the US pushed for tariffs on nations buying Russian oil. The goal is to cut off the money funding the war in Ukraine.

The meeting was led by Canada. The ministers all agreed on one main point: they need to find ways to put more pressure on Russia. They specifically talked about using frozen Russian money to help Ukraine defend itself.

US officials said that a united effort is the only way to stop the war. They want countries to work together to block Russia’s income from oil sales. This would make it much harder for Russia to pay for its military.

The US is focusing on China and India, who buy a lot of Russian oil. The US has already placed high taxes on goods from India to pressure them. However, it has not done the same to China yet, as trade talks with Beijing are ongoing.

The US Treasury Secretary will soon travel to Spain for talks with a top Chinese leader. Their discussion will cover trade, the TikTok app, and other financial issues. Meanwhile, the US President stated that his patience with Russia is wearing thin, warning that strong actions are needed.
