US Faces Worst Measles Outbreak in 35 Years

WASHINGTON: (News Desk) – The United States is experiencing its largest measles outbreak in more than three decades, with health officials reporting a sharp rise in infections amid growing concerns over declining vaccination rates.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 2,300 confirmed measles cases have been recorded since the start of 2026, surpassing the previous year’s total, which had already reached the highest level in recent history.

Medical experts have warned that the surge represents a preventable public health crisis, particularly affecting children. They say measles can spread rapidly and, in severe cases, may cause complications including pneumonia, brain inflammation, long-term health problems, and death.
