US and Indonesia officially finalize historic trade agreement
US and Indonesia sign historic trade deal, setting tariffs, boosting investment, and easing barriers for businesses and agriculture.
US & Indonesia – (Web Desk) – The United States and Indonesia have officially signed a trade agreement that sets clear rules for tariffs and other trade barriers, the White House said Thursday.
Indonesian officials held a news conference at a downtown Washington hotel to celebrate the deal, which was first announced in July.
Under the agreement, Indonesian goods entering the U.S. will face a 19% tariff, down from a potential 32% that had been considered earlier. Meanwhile, Indonesia will exempt American companies from local content rules and work to remove obstacles for U.S. agricultural products sold in the country, among other commitments.
Indonesia also agreed to $33 billion in purchases of US energy commodities, agricultural products and aviation-related goods, including Boeing aircraft.
After alarming financial markets last spring with a plan for hefty tariffs, Trump has announced numerous accords, as well as a detente with China.

Trump on February 2 announced a trade deal to reduce tariffs on India. Earlier this week, he unveiled some $36 billion in commitments from Japan in US investments, part of a trade accord between Washington and Tokyo unveiled in July 2025.
