National Unity, Skilled Youth Key to Sustainable Development, Say Speakers at PID Seminar
LAHORE (News Desk) – Prominent journalists, educationists, and analysts on Monday underscored the importance of national unity, skill development, and policy continuity for Pakistan’s sustainable development during a seminar held in connection with the country’s 78th Independence Day.
Titled “78th Independence Day: Achievements, Challenges, and Opportunities for Sustainable Development,” the seminar was organized by the Press Information Department (PID) Lahore.
Addressing the gathering, senior journalist Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami termed the creation of Pakistan a historic milestone, noting the country’s journey of progress through industrial development and nuclear capability. He stressed the importance of adhering to Quaid-e-Azam’s principles of unity, faith, and discipline to unlock national potential.
Journalist Irshad Ahmad Arif said Pakistan’s achievements must be more prominently highlighted, adding that skilled manpower contributes significantly to the national economy through overseas employment.
Salman Ghani emphasized the role of capable leadership and policy continuity, saying these factors could address nearly half of Pakistan’s challenges. Similarly, Nasrullah Malik called for a stronger focus on human resource development, particularly through educational reforms and youth skill-building.
Educationist Dr. Arsha pointed to political instability and internal threats as major hurdles, stressing that national progress requires individual accountability and collective commitment rather than blame-shifting.
Dr. Ayesha Jami warned that by 2030, only a limited set of job categories—including AI, big data, cybersecurity, and environmental engineering—will dominate global markets. She urged immediate investment in youth training to combat brain drain and support national advancement.
