Unannounced Load Shedding Continues in Bani Gala, Residents Distressed

Amid the sweltering summer heat, families—especially children, women, and the elderly—are facing extreme hardship.

Islamabad: Prolonged and unannounced power outages have intensified in Bani Gala, one of the capital’s upscale neighborhoods, causing severe distress to local residents. For several days, electricity supply has been frequently disrupted under the pretext of maintenance work, with hours-long blackouts becoming a regular occurrence.

According to residents, power cuts during nighttime hours have become routine. Just last night, electricity was shut off at midnight and restored only after several hours. Amid the sweltering summer heat, families—especially children, women, and the elderly—are facing extreme hardship.

Despite lodging multiple complaints, locals claim that the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has failed to provide any satisfactory response. Residents have criticized WAPDA’s performance, reporting that transformers often burn out and the wiring infrastructure is in poor condition, frequently leading to short circuits and power disruptions.

They also alleged that while substantial funds are allocated for developmental projects, these resources are not being utilized for public welfare. The community has called on higher authorities to take immediate notice of the unannounced load shedding in Bani Gala and ensure a consistent power supply to alleviate the suffering of the people.
