UN Inquiry Accuses Israel of Extermination in the West Bank
Investigators say Israeli forces and settlers carried out a planned attack on civilians, while Israel calls the report false and political.
West Bank – (Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – UN-backed investigators say Israel has committed the crime of extermination in the West Bank. They also say Israel is still carrying out genocide in Gaza. The findings were shared on Monday.
The group is called the Independent International Commission of Inquiry. It does not speak for the UN itself. The UN Human Rights Council set it up in 2021.
The new report says Israeli forces carried out a wide and well-planned attack on civilians in the West Bank. It says settler violence made the attack stronger.
The investigators also named other crimes, including torture, rape and other sexual violence. They said Palestinians were targeted because of their nationality, race and ethnicity.
The report says Israel wanted to punish West Bank civilians for the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023. It says the targeting was part of state policy.
Commission chairman Srinivasan Muralidhar said the killings and home destruction are part of a bigger plan. He said the plan is to push Palestinians out and make life unbearable for them.
Israel rejected the report. Its foreign ministry called it a propaganda paper that has no link to reality. It said the report weakens Israel’s right to defend itself.
The report came a day before Israel’s general election. It also repeats a finding from September 2025 that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
The Hamas attack killed 1,221 people, according to an AFP count based on Israeli figures. Gaza’s health ministry says Israel’s response has killed more than 74,200 people. The UN considers these figures reliable.
The investigators asked Israel to end the occupation and remove all settlers and settlements. They also asked it to stop genocide in Gaza.
The report also criticised the Palestinian Authority. It says the authority has targeted people who disagree with it and has failed to investigate killings properly. There was no quick response from the authority.
Palestinian ambassador Riyad Mansour spoke at the UN General Assembly. He asked governments to take real steps to protect Palestinians.
