Ukraine FM denied reports claiming Pakistan supplying arms
Pakistan ready to support peace initiative for regional stability: Bilawal
Islamabad_Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba denied media reports claiming that Pakistan was supplying arms to Kyiv amid its ongoing conflict with Russia.
Addressing a joint news conference along with Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in the federal capital, Kuleba said there is no arms supply agreement between Pakistan and Ukraine.”Pakistan and Ukraine have long-standing amicable and historical links. The opportunities exist for bilateral trade, cultural exchange, and investment between the two countries.”
Bhutto-Zardari said, “We want to boost collaboration across a range of industries. I praise Ukraine for supporting Pakistan in the Human Rights Council’s resolution on religious freedom”.Bilawal appreciated the Ukrainian government for its principled stance in supporting the resolution on countering religious hatred, consistent incitements to discrimination, hostilities and violence at the Human Rights Council in Geneva. He expressed the confidence that our joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relationship will be beneficial for the people of both the countries. He said we resolve to move forward in fostering cooperation and friendship between the people of Pakistan and Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister said we are thinking of boosting trade and solving existing problems of Pakistani students studying in Ukraine. He said Ukraine can offer digitalization of state services to make government more convenient to engage with its own citizens. He said we will be looking forward to hold the inaugural meeting of a Pakistan-Ukraine commission on economic cooperation. He said Ukraine considers Pakistan a good partner and is ready to work in the area of food security.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister also thanked Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance for the people of Pakistan.
The two sides discussed cooperation in diverse fields.
Earlier on arrival at the Foreign Office, the visiting dignitary was received by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and other high-ranking officials of the Foreign Office.
During the two-day visit, the Ukrainian foreign minister will also call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
He said: “It is important to make it simpler for Ukrainian products to reach the global market. The Russia-Ukraine conflict had a greater impact on developing countries”.
The Ukrainian FM also expressed interest in boosting trade and economic ties saying that the country is looking forward to hold the inaugural meeting of a Pakistan-Ukraine commission on economic cooperation.
Ukraine considers Pakistan a good partner and is ready to work in the area of food security, he added.
Ukraine’s top diplomat also praised Pakistan’s humanitarian assistance to the people of the conflict-hit country.
He also assured of solving problems being faced by Pakistani students studying in Ukraine.
