UK envoy lauds Pakistan diplomacy energy cooperation strengthened
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – In Islamabad, Ali Pervaiz Malik held a key meeting with Jane Marriott to discuss the evolving regional situation and its impact on global energy markets, along with opportunities to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy and minerals sectors.
Both sides exchanged views on the ongoing regional crisis and its implications for petroleum supply chains, price fluctuations, and overall energy security. The discussions highlighted the need for coordinated efforts to maintain stability in global energy markets.
The UK envoy appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement and acknowledged its role in easing tensions through dialogue. She commended the country’s balanced approach and its ability to engage with key stakeholders, including the United States and Iran, to promote peace.

She also praised Pakistan’s effective management of petroleum supplies, noting that despite global uncertainty, the country ensured uninterrupted availability of fuel and avoided disruptions in the domestic market.
Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace through diplomatic channels, emphasizing that the government continues to support efforts aimed at resolving the crisis through dialogue.
On domestic energy management, the minister highlighted timely measures taken to maintain supply continuity, stressing that avoiding disruptions remained a top priority. He noted that maintaining supply stability was crucial to safeguarding economic progress.
The minister also expressed appreciation to friendly countries such as Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Oman for their support in ensuring petroleum supplies. He also recalled past cooperation from Qatar, particularly in LNG supply arrangements.
Highlighting domestic efforts, he praised local exploration and production companies for their role in sustaining energy availability during challenging times. He added that the government continues to protect vulnerable groups through targeted subsidies and effective pricing strategies.
The UK High Commissioner emphasized the importance of long-term collaboration, particularly in technical cooperation between the British Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Pakistan.
The meeting also explored opportunities for institutional strengthening, including capacity building of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority. Both sides agreed to expand cooperation through technical partnerships, investment facilitation, and sustainable development initiatives in Pakistan’s energy sector.
