Islamabad (By Muhammad Zahid Khan) — The University of Central Punjab (UCP) and Punjab University have qualified for the final of the All Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC) Inter-University Men’s Baseball Championship after registering emphatic victories in their respective semi-final matches at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad.
In the first semi-final, Punjab University delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Health Services Academy (HSA) by 6–0. Punjab University maintained control throughout the match with disciplined pitching and solid fielding, denying HSA any meaningful scoring opportunities.
The second semi-final saw the University of Central Punjab outclass the University of Lahore (UOL) by 11–1. UCP’s aggressive batting display, combined with organized defense, proved too strong for UOL as they secured a convincing win to book their place in the final.
Earlier, in the third-place playoff, the University of Lahore defeated Health Services Academy to claim third position, while HSA finished fourth in the tournament.
The championship was inaugurated by Dean and Director Sports of Health Services Academy, Dr. Ijaz Asghar Mughal, who emphasized the importance of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork and physical fitness among students. He appreciated the efforts of the Higher Education Commission and the Pakistan Baseball Federation in promoting baseball at the university level.

Secretary General Pakistan Baseball Federation Tahir Mahmood, Director Sports Alhamd University Dr. Salahuddin, Jamil Kamran, Nisar Ahmed, Rana Wasim, Muhammad Ishaq, along with other officials and players, were present on the occasion.
In the opening round matches, the University of Central Punjab defeated National University of Modern Languages (NUML), the University of Lahore beat COMSATS University, Health Services Academy overcame Alhamd University, while Punjab University defeated the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS).
The final of the All Pakistan HEC Inter-University Men’s Baseball Championship between the University of Central Punjab and Punjab University will be played today (Sunday) at 10:00 am at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad. A closely contested encounter is expected as both teams remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.
