UAE imposes no new visa restrictions on Pakistanis, confirms FO
The United Arab Emirates has not imposed any new visa restrictions on Pakistani citizens, the Foreign Office spokesperson clarified.
At the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi highlighted several key diplomatic developments.
He said Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Shafqat Ali Khan, also rejected reports of any new restrictions. The spokesperson noted that a parliamentary committee may have been briefed based on outdated records.
Reiterating the official position, the Foreign Office confirmed that the UAE has not introduced any new measures affecting Pakistan.
He stated that the Prime Minister undertook a two-day official visit to Bahrain, while Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, also visited Pakistan.
During his two-day stay, Larijani held detailed talks with Pakistan’s leadership. Both Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their commitment to working together at various international forums, the spokesperson said.
Andarabi condemned the provocative remarks made by the Indian Defence Minister regarding Sindh, reiterating that Pakistan supports a peaceful resolution of issues with India through dialogue. He added that a United Nations experts’ report has exposed human rights violations in occupied Kashmir, noting that 2,800 Kashmiris are currently detained under Indian custody.
Pakistan called upon India to end its coercive measures in the occupied valley and release all detainees. The spokesperson also expressed strong reservations over the raising of a temple flag at the historic site of the demolished Babri Mosque and voiced deep concern over rising hate-driven actions against minorities, particularly Muslims, in India.
Regarding the Middle East, Pakistan strongly condemned Israel’s attacks on Palestinians, especially in Gaza, which have resulted in the deaths of civilians including women and children.
Andarabi further announced that Pakistan has been elected as a member of the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons).
He said consultations between Pakistan and Iran on the gas pipeline project are ongoing, and both sides are committed to jointly finding a solution.
Addressing recent reports, the spokesperson confirmed that the United Arab Emirates has not imposed any new visa restrictions on Pakistani citizens. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Shafqat Ali Khan, has also denied the rumours. The spokesperson suggested that a parliamentary committee may have been briefed based on outdated information, reaffirming that the UAE has introduced no new restrictions for Pakistan.
