ISLAMABAD: The UAE Ministry of Education has released the final exam schedule for the first academic term of the 2025-2026 school year. The schedule applies to grades three through twelve in public and private schools that follow the ministry’s curriculum.
Exams for Group A subjects, which cover core academic disciplines, will start on Thursday, November 20, and run until December 4.
There will be a break during the Eid Al Etihad celebrations. Schools must complete assessment records for Group B subjects by November 14, before the start of written exams.
The ministry has issued detailed guidelines for exam formats, the use of electronic devices, supervision, and calculator rules.
Students in grades three and four will take paper-based exams in person. Grade five students in all tracks will also sit for paper-based exams.
For grade twelve, English language exams will be conducted electronically.
Teachers are not allowed to read exam questions aloud during tests, except for grade three. In that case, teachers may read the questions only, not the answers, to ensure fairness.
Students must bring their own laptops for electronic exams. Assessments for grades six through twelve will be either paper-based or electronic, depending on the subject and track.
Grade twelve students in the general and advanced tracks at private schools will take their exams in public school facilities, supervised by the School Operations Department.
During the chemistry exam, schools must provide printed copies of the periodic table. However, elite track students must use the electronic version available on the Swift Assess platform in the Ministry’s Education Media Portal.
Calculator use is strictly regulated. In science subjects (physics, chemistry, biology, and health sciences), students from grades six to twelve may use scientific calculators across all tracks. In mathematics, calculator permissions differ:
- In general and advanced tracks, calculators are not allowed for grades six to nine, but are permitted for higher grades.
- In the elite track, both scientific and graphical calculators are allowed.
- In the applied track, students must use graphical calculators.
The ministry emphasized that all schools must follow these instructions exactly, without any changes. Exams will be held under the direct supervision of the School Operations Department to ensure consistent standards across all schools.
Schools must also enforce strict rules on electronic devices, allowing only approved tools and banning unauthorized smart devices to maintain exam integrity.
