UAE Sets Zakat al-Fitr Fidyah and Iftar Prices for Ramadan

ABU DHABI (Web Desk)– The UAE Fatwa Council has officially announced the rates for Zakat al-Fitr and Fidyah for Ramadan 2026, following a field price study conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism.

Zakat al-Fitr has been set at 2.5 kilograms of rice or 25 dirhams per person. For those unable to fast, Fidyah has been set at 3.25 kilograms of wheat or 20 dirhams per day, to be distributed to those in need.

In cases where a fast is invalidated, a fine of 1,200 dirhams will apply, to be divided among 60 needy individuals. Violations during Hajj or Umrah will incur a fine of 120 dirhams, to be distributed among six needy people. The minimum cost of an iftar meal has been set at 20 AED.

The Fatwa Council emphasized that Zakat al-Fitr is obligatory for all able-bodied Muslims, male and female, and serves as a charitable effort to support the less fortunate during Ramadan. Payments can be made any time from the start of Ramadan until before the Eid prayer through approved institutions such as the Zakat Fund and Emirates Red Crescent.
