Two Turkish police officers killed near Izmir, suspect arrested.
A 16-year-old suspect is in custody after a violent incident that left two officers dead and others wounded.
Turkey – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – In a sad event on Monday, two police officers were killed and two more were hurt. This happened during a shooting at a police station near Izmir, Turkey. A government minister shared that a 16-year-old boy has been caught by police.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya called the event a “terrible attack.” It took place in the Balcova area, close to the popular city of Izmir. The minister confirmed two officers died and a third was very badly injured. He also stated that the young suspect, known as E.B., is now under arrest and that an official investigation has begun.
The reason for the attack is still unknown. A news website shared a video of a person in a mask. The person, dressed in black and light-colored pants, was seen running on the sidewalk with a rifle before going into a building.
Another video on TV showed local people helping police. They were seen holding the suspected attacker, who was wearing white trousers, and putting him into a police vehicle.

News reports say the attacker used a long gun. A television station described the weapon as a shotgun. After the shooting, many police officers quickly spread out across the neighborhood to keep everyone safe.
The Mayor of Izmir, Cemil Tugay, strongly condemned the violent act. He called it a “treacherous attack” and shared his sympathies with the families who lost their loved ones.
