Two Police Personnel Martyred in Attack on Bannu Checkpost

Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. 

BANNU: Two policemen were martyred as unidentified terrorists associated with Fitna-ul-Khwarij carried out an attack on a police post in Bannu on Wednesday.

The assailants gained access to the police post by blowing up the main gate using explosives. The exchange of fire which followed left two policemen martyred and injured one.

The attack caused severe damage to the post and nearby shops as well as cut off the power supply in the local area.

Security forces have since cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The wounded personnel and bystanders were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital and are receiving treatment for their injuries.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack on the police post in Bannu.

The Interior Minister paid tribute to the two policemen martyred in the attack and expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred policemen.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and said, “Our sympathies are with the families of the martyrs. We salute the sacrifices of the martyred policemen.”
