Two Billion Eyes on Islamic Summit in Qatar: Pakistan’s FM Ishaq Dar
“Pakistan, as a nuclear power, will always stand with the Muslim Ummah and fulfill its responsibility,” Dar asserted.
Doha/Islamabad – Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that nearly two billion people around the world are watching the ongoing Arab-Islamic Leadership Summit in Qatar, calling it a defining moment for the Muslim world amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
In an interview with Arab media ahead of the summit, Dar emphasized the urgency of a unified stance against Israeli aggression. “It would be unfortunate if the summit fails to deliver a clear roadmap against Israel’s actions,” he said. “Two billion people are waiting to see what comes out of this summit.”
When asked whether Israel, which recently attacked Qatar on September 9, could also target Pakistan, Dar responded by recalling past attempts by India, allegedly backed by Israel, to destabilize Pakistan. “They tried with full support, but the world saw what happened. Their claims were exposed. We are prepared,” he said.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace, stating, “Pakistan believes in peace and does not wish for instability in the region. However, any unrest in this region will have far-reaching consequences.”
UN Resolutions Ineffective on Palestine
Speaking on the Palestine issue, Dar criticized the ineffectiveness of UN resolutions, saying that the past 22 months of violence and suffering speak for themselves. He acknowledged that Arab nations are now seriously discussing the formation of a joint security force, which he described as a “practical step” toward collective defense.
“Pakistan, as a nuclear power, will always stand with the Muslim Ummah and fulfill its responsibility,” Dar asserted.
Summit Focus: Israel’s Aggression and Regional Security
The Arab-Islamic Summit is being held in Doha, Qatar, following Israel’s controversial attack on Qatari territory earlier this month. The summit aims to not only condemn Israel’s actions but also explore strategic steps to prevent future aggression.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is also attending the summit, representing Pakistan at the highest level. Just a day earlier, Ishaq Dar had strongly condemned the Israeli attacks on Qatar and other regional states, calling them “unacceptable.”
During his address at the Foreign Ministers’ Session, Dar also proposed the creation of an Arab-Islamic Task Force to monitor and respond to Israeli intentions and aggression, calling it a necessary step in ensuring the security of the Muslim world.
The summit is expected to release a joint declaration addressing the escalating crisis in the Middle East, with calls for unity, strategic defense, and justice for Palestine.
