TV Host Aftab Iqbal Accused of Harassment by Former Co-Host Esshal Adnan

Following the incident, Esshal says she was immediately excluded from the program and her co-host role was revoked.

Lahore – Pakistani television host and columnist Aftab Iqbal is facing serious allegations of sexual harassment from former co-host Esshal Adnan, who shared her ordeal in a recent podcast.

Esshal revealed that she joined Aftab Iqbal’s program on Express TV with promotional materials already released featuring her name. However, she claimed that her experience turned into a nightmare on just the third day of her job, when she was allegedly asked to fulfill inappropriate demands.

According to Esshal, she confronted Aftab Iqbal directly, saying, “I respect you, but such behavior is not acceptable for a senior anchor.” Despite her refusal, she claims Aftab Iqbal reacted angrily, threatening to remove her from the show and prevent her from appearing on screen.

Following the incident, Esshal says she was immediately excluded from the program and her co-host role was revoked. She noted that multiple witnesses were present who could corroborate her claims. She also reported the matter to the TV channel’s HR department, prompting the channel owner to intervene. Esshal stated that the owner acknowledged Aftab Iqbal’s business influence but assured her that she would face no retaliation.

Despite the trauma, Esshal noted that Aftab Iqbal has reportedly changed over time, describing him as a father of four daughters and a son who has learned from past mistakes.

Her allegations add to a series of complaints against Aftab Iqbal, including claims of inappropriate behavior toward female colleagues and controversies surrounding a former co-host’s marriage, which were revealed years later.

The revelations have sparked renewed discussions about harassment in the Pakistani television industry and the need for stronger protections for female employees.
