Trump had a warm message for his Turkish counterpart. He congratulated Erdogan and the Turkish people on Republic Day. This national holiday is one of the most important days of the year in Türkiye.
The US president also sent good wishes for the Organization of Turkic States summit. Türkiye is hosting the event, and Trump wished the country success.
The call shows that the two leaders are keeping the lines open. Both countries have a stake in several global issues, and regular contact helps them stay in step.
For now, Ankara says it will keep pushing for diplomacy. The statement made it clear that Türkiye wants to play a helpful role, whether in the Gulf, in Yemen or in the search for peace in Ukraine.
