Washington, D.C.: U.S. President Donald Trump has “excellent” cardiovascular health, his physician confirmed Monday, following an MRI scan performed during an unannounced hospital visit in October.
The sudden visit to Walter Reed Medical Center on October 10, outside the usual annual check-up, had fueled speculation about the president’s health. In a memo released by the White House, Trump’s doctor, Sean Barbabella, said the imaging was entirely preventive, intended “to identify issues early, confirm overall health, and ensure he maintains long-term vitality.”
Barbabella noted that all major organs appear very healthy and well-perfused, with cardiovascular and abdominal imaging showing no abnormalities. MRI scans, which detect conditions ranging from tumors to strokes, were part of routine preventive care, he added.
Trump, who will turn 80 in June, has faced criticism for limited transparency around his health. He previously sidestepped reporters’ questions about the October visit, directing inquiries to his medical team.
The White House has also previously addressed concerns about bruising on the president’s right hand, attributing it to aspirin use for standard cardiovascular care. In addition, Trump was evaluated for chronic venous insufficiency, a common vein condition causing leg swelling, which can be managed through medication or procedures.

Barbabella emphasized that the preventive MRI was “routine and part of ongoing health monitoring,” highlighting Trump’s continued vitality and overall wellness.
