Trump, Xi Hold Key Meeting in South Korea, Hint at Possible Trade Deal

President Xi emphasized that while the two countries may not agree on everything, such differences are normal

Busan: An important meeting took place between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping during Trump’s visit to South Korea.

At the start of the meeting, President Trump said he was pleased to meet President Xi again, expressing hope that the talks would be “highly successful.” Trump added that it was possible a deal with China could be reached today, noting that “there is agreement on some issues, and progress on many others.”

According to international media reports, President Xi stated that China and the United States should be “friends and partners.” He noted that both sides had already reached consensus on the basic points of a trade deal.

President Xi emphasized that while the two countries may not agree on everything, such differences are normal, saying, “It is natural for economies to have disagreements or clashes.” He also highlighted China’s commitment to promoting peace talks for resolving global conflicts, commending President Trump’s “remarkable efforts” toward achieving the recent ceasefire in Gaza.

Xi further stated that creating a positive environment for both nations’ growth was essential, affirming China’s readiness to continue working with the United States to build a strong foundation for bilateral relations.

International analysts believe the meeting could result in an agreement that may finally bring an end to the long-running trade war between the two economic giants.
