Trump Warns India of Heavy Tariffs Over Russian Oil Imports

“If India does not stop purchasing oil from Russia, we will continue to impose heavy tariffs,” Trump warned.

Washington – U.S. President Donald Trump has once again warned India over its continued purchase of oil from Russia, stating that failure to halt these imports could result in heavy tariffs.

President Trump emphasized that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously assured him that India would stop buying Russian oil. However, Trump said India must make a firm decision on this matter or face increasing economic pressure.

“If India does not stop purchasing oil from Russia, we will continue to impose heavy tariffs,” Trump warned.

He added that while there is a possibility of reducing tariffs on China, it would only happen if China cooperates and refrains from manipulating the rare earth minerals market against U.S. interests.

President Trump also mentioned that further announcements regarding tariffs on Colombia would be made on Monday.

It is worth noting that just a few days ago, President Trump had told the media in the Oval Office that Prime Minister Modi had assured him of halting Russian oil imports. Trump said he was initially displeased with India’s position but believed the issue had been resolved following discussions.
