US – Hamas – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – After Hamas agreed to release hostages and accept some other terms in a U.S. plan to end the war, President Donald Trump urged Israel to immediately stop bombing Gaza. However, contentious issues like disarmament seemed to remain unresolved.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that in response to Hamas’ reaction, Israel was getting ready for the “immediate implementation” of the first phase of Trump’s Gaza plan for the release of Israeli hostages.
Israel’s political leadership reportedly ordered the military to scale back offensive operations in Gaza shortly after, according to Israeli media.
Trump blamed Netanyahu’s government, saying he thought Hamas had demonstrated that it was “ready for a lasting PEACE.”

Netanyahu’s office said Israel “will continue to work in full cooperation with the President and his team to end the war in accordance with the principles set out by Israel, which align with President Trump’s vision.”
As Trump urged Israel to halt bombing, Residents said Israeli tanks bombarded Talateeni Street, a major artery in the heart of Gaza City, after Trump’s message to Israel to stop.
Witnesses said Israeli military planes also intensified bombing in Gaza City in the hour after Hamas issued its statement, hitting several houses in the Remal neighbourhood.
India reports downing five Pakistani F-16 and JF-17 jets.
Without indicating whether military operations in Gaza would be scaled back, the Israeli military chief of staff issued a statement directing forces to prepare for the first phase of Trump’s plan.
After the U.S. president gave Hamas, the Palestinian militant organisation in control of Gaza, until Sunday to accept or face dire repercussions, the group responded to Trump’s 20-point plan.
Trump has made large political investments in attempts to put an end to a two-year-old conflict that has claimed tens of thousands of lives and left U.S. ally Israel more and more isolated on the international scene. Trump has positioned himself as the only person who can bring about peace in Gaza.
