Trump signals possible NATO exit before White House address

Trump Calls NATO a "Paper Tiger" as U.S. Alliance Tensions Reach a Breaking Point

NATO – US President Donald Trump has revealed he is seriously thinking about pulling the United States out of NATO. His frustration grew after member countries refused to stand alongside America in its conflict with Iran.

In a candid interview with The Telegraph, published Wednesday, April 1, Trump did not hold back, describing NATO as a “paper tiger” — an alliance that looks powerful on paper but lacks real strength. He went further, saying that leaving the alliance was no longer just a possibility, but something he had firmly made up his mind about.

“I was never swayed by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and Putin knows that too, by the way,” Trump stated bluntly.

The remarks have sent shockwaves through the international community, raising serious questions about the future of one of the world’s most powerful military alliances.

This comes after President Trump’s European allies, including the United Kingdom, defied his request to deploy warships to secure the Strait of Hormuz. Trump referred to this request as a “test” that his allies failed.

Trump said: “We’ve been there automatically, including Ukraine. Ukraine wasn’t our problem. It was a test, and we were there for them. They weren’t there for us.”

Trump Rejects Ceasefire Until Hormuz Reopens

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer pushed back, reaffirming the U.K.’s commitment to NATO.

Starmer told reporters, “NATO is the single most effective military alliance the world has ever seen. We are fully committed to NATO.”
