Trump Says Iran War Could End Very Soon
Trump Claims Iran Conflict Nearing End After Heavy Strikes
WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that the ongoing conflict with Iran may soon come to an end, stating that there are “practically no major targets left” following extensive military strikes.
Speaking in a brief phone interview with Axios, Trump suggested the war could conclude whenever the United States decides to bring it to a close. The conflict began nearly two weeks ago after coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel aimed at weakening Iran’s military strength and disrupting its nuclear program.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that around 150 U.S. troops have been wounded during the 10-day conflict, according to sources cited by Reuters. The casualty figures had not been publicly disclosed earlier, with the Pentagon previously confirming only eight serious injuries among U.S. personnel.
Following the report, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said approximately 140 American service members had been injured since the launch of Operation Epic Fury. He added that most of the injuries were minor and that 108 personnel had already returned to active duty, while the eight severely wounded soldiers were receiving advanced medical treatment.
Officials have not disclosed the exact nature of the injuries, and it remains unclear whether they include traumatic brain injuries, which are commonly linked to blast exposure.
Trump Threatens to Target Iran’s New Leadership
Since the conflict escalated on February 28, Iran has carried out retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. military bases. Attacks have also hit diplomatic facilities in Gulf countries, as well as airports, hotels, and energy infrastructure across the region.
However, U.S. officials say the frequency of Iranian attacks has decreased significantly as American forces continue targeting Iran’s weapons stockpiles and missile launch systems.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine told reporters the Iranian military response had not exceeded U.S. expectations, noting that while Iran is actively fighting back, it is not proving to be a more formidable opponent than initially anticipated.
