Trump, Netanyahu Agree on Two-Week Timeline to End Gaza War

Washington-According to Israeli media reports on Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have agreed to end the war in Gaza within two weeks. The agreement was reportedly reached during a phone call that also included U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer.

The leaders also agreed to expand the Abraham Accords, as reported by Israel Hayom.

Under the proposed plan, hostilities in Gaza would cease within two weeks. Administration of the Gaza Strip would be handed over to a coalition of four Arab nations—including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates—effectively replacing Hamas. Remaining Hamas leadership would be exiled to other countries, and hostages currently held would be released.

Leaders from the European Union’s 27 member countries called on Thursday for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and said discussions would continue on a report on Israel’s compliance with the terms of an agreement with the bloc.

“The European Council calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unconditional release of all hostages, leading to a permanent end to hostilities,” the leaders said in written conclusions after a discussion on the Middle East in Brussels.
