Trump Expects Hamas to Respond Within 24 Hours to ‘Final’ Peace Deal Proposal

Washington( News desk)Trump Expects Hamas Response Within 24 Hours on Ceasefire Proposal

Former U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday that a decision from Hamas on a proposed ceasefire with Israel could be expected within the next 24 hours. The proposal, described by Trump as a “final” effort to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza, aims to establish a 60-day truce between the two sides.
Trump stated earlier in the week that Israel had agreed to the terms of the ceasefire, during which negotiations would continue to reach a permanent resolution. On Friday, when asked about Hamas’s position on the offer, he responded: “We’ll see what happens. We are going to know over the next 24 hours.”
A source close to Hamas indicated that the group was seeking assurances that the U.S.-brokered proposal would ultimately lead to a complete end to Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Israeli officials noted that discussions were still ongoing.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continued, with Gaza authorities reporting dozens of Palestinian casualties on Thursday. The violence stems from the October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel that left 1,200 dead and around 250 taken hostage, according to Israeli sources.
In response, Israel launched a large-scale military operation in Gaza, which local health officials say has resulted in more than 56,000 Palestinian deaths, widespread famine, and mass displacement. The assault has drawn international legal scrutiny, with Israel facing accusations of genocide and war crimes—charges it firmly denies.
A prior ceasefire ended in March when Israeli strikes killed over 400 Palestinians. Earlier this year, Trump proposed that the United States take control of Gaza, a suggestion that was widely criticized by human rights groups, the UN, and Palestinian authorities as advocating “ethnic cleansing.”
Focus on Abraham Accords
Trump also discussed expanding the Abraham Accords—a series of normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab nations initiated during his presidency. He confirmed that the topic was addressed during a recent meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, at the White House.
“I think many more countries are going to join the Abraham Accords,” Trump said, pointing to increasing regional tensions involving Iran following recent U.S. and Israeli military actions.
Following his meeting with Trump, Prince Khalid reportedly held a phone conversation with Iran’s top military official, General Abdolrahim Mousavi. This diplomatic activity comes just days ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s scheduled visit to Washington.
