Trump ends trade negotiations with Canada following a negative advertisement.

A political ad using Ronald Reagan's old words has ended all trade talks between the US and Canada.

US – Canada – Trade – (Special Correspondent /Web Desk)- President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he is stopping all trade discussions with Canada. This decision came after he saw an advertisement he did not like. The ad used a clip of former President Ronald Reagan speaking out against tariffs.

Earlier this year, Trump placed new taxes on Canadian metals and cars. In response, Canada put similar taxes on American goods. Both countries had been trying to work out a new agreement for weeks.

Trump shared his strong feelings on his social media platform. He wrote that because of Canada’s “egressious behavior,” every single trade negotiation with them is now over.

The ad that upset Trump was created by the province of Ontario. Its leader, Doug Ford, said he knew Trump had seen it. Ford mentioned on Tuesday that he was sure the president was not happy about its message.

The commercial showed Ronald Reagan, a famous Republican president, from a 1987 speech. In the edited clip, he is heard saying tariffs can hurt jobs and start trade fights.

The organization that protects Reagan’s legacy, his Presidential Foundation, said the ad was misleading. They stated that Ontario used edited pieces of his speech without asking for permission. The foundation is now looking into what legal steps it can take.

The national government of Canada has not yet made a public statement about Trump’s sudden announcement.

Using tariffs as a tool in negotiations is a common strategy for President Trump. His approach to trade has raised US taxes on imports to their highest point in decades. This has caused worry for many business owners and economic experts.

Pakistan Army Vows Strong Stand Against Threats

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney responded by saying Canada will protect its own markets. He made it clear that if trade talks with the US fall apart, Canada will not give the US unfair advantages.

This situation adds tension as the US, Canada, and Mexico prepare to review their major three-country trade agreement next year.
