Trump Announces Nvidia’s Advanced AI Chips Will Not Be Exported to China
A few days ago, Nvidia announced it would supply over 260,000 Blackwell chips to South Korea
WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that the world’s most powerful Nvidia AI chips will now be available exclusively for American companies, while China and other countries will be denied access to this cutting-edge technology.
In a recent interview, Trump said, “We will not give our most advanced chips to any other country. Only the United States will have Blackwell chips.” Experts say this statement signals a possible tightening of Washington’s chip export policies, making it even more difficult for countries like China to obtain advanced semiconductors.
Nvidia, which recently became the world’s richest tech company, plays a central role in the global AI race. Its Blackwell chips are in high demand for cloud computing, robotics, and defense industries.
Supply to South Korea
A few days ago, Nvidia announced it would supply over 260,000 Blackwell chips to South Korea, including to major companies like Samsung Electronics. However, China will not receive these chips.

Trump added that the U.S. might allow Nvidia limited business operations, but these would not include the most advanced technology.
Political and Economic Implications
There is debate in the U.S. Congress over policy toward China. Some lawmakers have warned that any chip sales could strengthen China’s military capabilities.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang acknowledged uncertainty regarding the company’s operations in China. He stated that Beijing has made it clear that Nvidia cannot currently operate freely in the country, though the Chinese market remains financially important for American research and development.
