Dubai— A tri-nation T20 International (T20I) series involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is likely to be held in the UAE ahead of the Asia Cup, sources revealed on Wednesday.
Discussions are underway to transform the originally planned bilateral T20 series between Pakistan and Afghanistan into a tri-nation tournament by including the UAE cricket team.
Afghanistan was initially scheduled to tour Pakistan in August for a bilateral T20 series. However, organizers are now considering the triangular format to provide all three teams with valuable match practice before the Asia Cup.
If finalized, the tri-series will offer an important opportunity for the participating sides to fine-tune their squads and strategies in competitive conditions leading up to the continental event.
