Magnitude 4.5 Quake Shakes Islamabad and Twin Cities

Islamabad: (Web Desk) – Residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding areas were jolted on Friday as tremors from an earthquake were felt across the region, causing many to rush outdoors in panic.

According to the Seismic Center, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.5. Tremors were also reported in Haripur, Khanpur, and Swabi.

Strong earthquake shakes Peshawar, KP during Iftar time

This follows yesterday’s stronger quake during iftar, which measured 5.6 in magnitude. That quake originated at a depth of 73 kilometers beneath the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, affecting large parts of northern Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat, Mardan, Lower Dir, Malakand, Chitral, Khyber, Bara, Jamrud, Landi Kotal, Tirah, Sargodha, and nearby areas.

While residents evacuated homes and buildings to seek open spaces, authorities confirmed that no casualties or property damage have been reported so far. Officials continue to monitor seismic activity in the region.
