ISLAMABAD: According to sources, the injured were immediately transferred to the trauma center at Islamabad Airport for medical treatment. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined, and authorities are expected to launch an investigation.
In a separate incident, a major accident was narrowly avoided when a bird struck a private airline flight bound for Karachi during departure from Islamabad. The aircraft was forced to abort takeoff and was grounded for inspection.
As a result of the bird strike, two Karachi-bound flights — PA 207 and PA 208 — were canceled. According to the airline’s administration, the Airbus A320 aircraft sustained engine damage due to the bird hit. The pilot safely redirected the aircraft to the taxiway, and further technical inspection is currently underway.
These back-to-back aviation incidents have raised concerns over flight safety and bird hazard management at one of the country’s busiest airports.
