Tragic Shooting at Balochistan Dam Site Claims Five Lives

Balochistan-(Special Correspondent): A shooting incident at a dam site in the Panjgur district of Balochistan has left five workers dead and two others injured, according to provincial officials. The victims were engaged in maintenance work when armed assailants on motorcycles opened fire.

This attack comes on the heels of a previous shooting in the same district that resulted in the deaths of seven laborers from Punjab, underscoring the escalating violence in the region.

Balochistan has seen a troubling rise in terrorist activities, with the province and neighboring Khyber Pakhtunkhwa accounting for 97% of the 722 fatalities recorded in the first three quarters of this year, as reported by the Centre for Research and Security Studies.

In response to this tragic event, the bodies of the deceased were transported to Panjgur Teaching Hospital, and an investigation is currently underway.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the attack as “unforgivable” and vowed to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. Both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed their condolences and called for immediate action against the perpetrators, emphasizing that such acts of violence hinder the development and prosperity of Balochistan.
