Tragic Loss: 23 Soldiers martyred in DI Khan suicide attack, confirms ISPR. In a devastating incident in Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraban area, 23 soldiers lost their lives as a group of six terrorists targeted a security forces’ post on December 12, 2023. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the attackers attempted to breach the post, but security forces effectively thwarted the attempt. Faced with resistance, the terrorists resorted to ramming an explosive-laden vehicle into the post, followed by a suicide bombing attack.
The resulting explosions caused the collapse of the building, leading to multiple casualties. The ISPR confirmed that 23 brave soldiers embraced martyrdom in the attack, while all six terrorists were effectively engaged and neutralized.
The night of December 11 and 12 witnessed heightened terrorist activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s district, with a total of 27 terrorists sent to hell during various operations. An intelligence-based operation in Darazinda resulted in the elimination of 17 terrorists as their hideout was busted.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in Kulachi, four terrorists were neutralized after intense exchange of fire. Unfortunately, two soldiers fought gallantly but embraced martyrdom in the process. The ISPR highlighted that the killed terrorists were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians.

The security forces recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives during these operations. Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area. The military’s media wing emphasized the determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country, stating that such sacrifices of brave soldiers further strengthen their resolve.

The outgoing year witnessed an alarming rise in terror-related incidents in the country in general and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular as at least 470 security personnel and civilians were killed in the province, so for.
According to statistics, 470 people were killed in 1,050 terror-related incidents in one year alone.
As per the record of the provincial home department and tribal affairs, 698 security personnel and citizens were killed in 1,823 terror-related incidents during the past three years.
Seven areas along the Pak-Afghan border in KP remained “terrorism hotspots” during the outgoing year. The areas include Peshawar, Khyber, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Bajaur and Tank.
Out of the 1,050 terror-related incidents, 419 were reported in bandobasti, 631 in the erstwhile Fata, 201 in North Waziristan, 169 in Khyber, 121 in South Waziristan, 98 in DI Khan, 62 in Bajaur, 61 each in Tank and Peshawar.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday vowed to continue the fight against terrorism till its complete elimination from the country’s soil.
“We will fight back till the menace of terrorism is eliminated from our motherland,” he posted on the social media platform, X. The prime minister paid tribute to the valiant security forces for their successful operations in the Darazanda, Daraban, and Kolachi areas of district Dera Ismail Khan in which 27 terrorists were killed. “The soldiers’ dedication, sacrifice, and valor in the face of terror is unparalleled and a beacon of hope for our nation,” he said. He expressed his deepest sympathies with the families of the martyrs.
PM Kakar said the government was steadfast in eliminating terrorism and extremism from the country. He said such acts could not deter the resolve of the security forces to fight terrorism.
The prime minister directed the best medical treatment to the injured in the terrorist attack.
Funeral prayers of twenty three brave soldiers who embraced Shahadat while fighting terrorists’ attack in Daraban area today, was offered in Dera Ismail Khan Garrison.
Corps Commander Peshawar along with large number of serving officers, soldiers, civil officials and public attended the funeral.
Shuhada will be laid to rest with full military honour in their respective hometowns.
