Torrential Rains Claim Seven Lives in Balochistan, 25 Injured
Flooding in streams and rivers has worsened, with incidents such as a motorcycle being swept away in a stream in Musa Khel.
QUETTA: Severe rains in Balochistan have resulted in the deaths of seven people, including two children, and left 25 others injured. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported that fatalities occurred in Dera Bugti, Jhal Magsi, Khuzdar, Barkhan, and Musa Khel. The heavy downpours have damaged 258 houses, killed 29 livestock, and affected 17 kilometers of roads and 310 acres of crops.
Landslides have blocked several roads, and the Meteorological Department has forecast more rain for the province. The eastern Balochistan region, particularly the Koh-e-Sulaiman Range, has experienced heavy rainfall and subsequent landslides. The N70 highway connecting Balochistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Dhana Sar has been closed, stranding numerous vehicles. Additionally, roads in districts Zhob and Sherani, as well as the Zhob-Dera Ismail Khan highway, have been blocked, and the Turbat road is closed to all traffic.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, light to heavy showers have provided relief from the heat, and the Meteorological Department expects more rain in the next 24 hours. Rain is also anticipated in Islamabad, Murree, Galiyat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Balakot, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Swat, and parts of Azad Kashmir.

In contrast, Karachi continues to experience intense heat and humidity with no rain forecasted. However, the Meteorological Department predicts that the heat will begin to subside this evening as sea breezes return. Morning temperatures in Karachi reached 34°C, with the heat index feeling like 42°C. The humidity level was recorded at 70%.
