Torkham Border Clash: 1 Killed, 4 Injured in Exchange of Fire

Khyber-(Hijrat Ali Afridi)-A tense stand off between Pakistani and Afghan security forces escalated into a fierce exchange of fire at the Torkham Border on Monday, resulting in the deaths of one Afghan security personnel and injuring four others, including three security forces.

The Torkham Border has been closed for 10 days due to a dispute between Pakistani and Afghan border authorities. The controversy revolves around the construction of a bunker at the zero point by Afghan border authorities, which Pakistan claims is a violation of border agreements.

According to sources, the situation took a turn for the worse last night when both security forces opened heavy and light fire on each other. The affected population in the Bacha Mena area near the Torkham Border was relocated by social workers during the firing.

Reports indicate that several villages and homes were hit by Afghan security forces, resulting in significant damage. However, security officials have yet to confirm the number of injured security personnel.

This latest incident highlights the ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with both countries having previously closed the Torkham and Chaman border crossings due to deadly shootings and cross-border fire.
