Lahore: (Showbiz Reporter) The 72nd birth anniversary of renowned actor and comedian king Moin Akhtar is being observed today. He is remembered as one of the most beloved comics, hosts, and actors ever to grace the stage and television screen.
As per details he was considered a comedian of an extremely high standard in Pakistan with experience in entertaining his audience for a long time. From theatre to the silver screen, Moin Akhtar’s work introduced nonstop laughter for everyone and became popular among the entertainment-loving audience.
Furthermore born on December 24, 1950, in Karachi, Akhtar joined the Pakistani entertainment industry in 1966, at the age of 16. A terrific satirist and mimic, his impersonations and performances stood out and earn him recognition, earning him the well-deserved tag of being a legend in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
Moreover among the many memorable performances by Akhtar include Studio 2.5, Studio 2.75, Aangan Terha, Chaar Bees, Fifty-Fifty, Such Much, and the much-acclaimed persona of Rozy. One of his most well-loved and prolific performances was on a show called ‘Loose Talk’ a favorite with audiences in which he impersonated as many as 400 different characters all of whom were interviewed by notable poet and writer, and also fellow satirist, Anwar Maqsood.
Meanwhile as a host, he once shared the stage with King Hussain of Jordan and sat down with notable political personalities including Benazir Bhutto, former president Ziaul Haq and former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto as well Imran Khan, a cricketer at the time.
He was liked for providing humor for people of all ages, and with a style that remains unmatched. His attempts to avoid vulgarity in his humor rendered him a favorite amongst family audiences.
He was fluent in several languages, including English, Bengali, Sindhi, Punjabi, Memon, Pashto, Gujarati and Urdu. He performed not only in Pakistan but played in several stage shows like Bakra Qiston Pe and Buddha Ghar Pe Hai with Umer Sharif in India too.
Moin Akhtar’s famous TV dramas include ‘Rozi’, ‘Intezar Farmaiye’, ‘Bund Road’, ‘Aangan Terha’, ‘Studio Dhai’, ‘Studio Ponay Teen’, ‘Yes Sir, No Sir’ and ‘Eid Train’.
The legendary actor left the world on Apr 22 in 2011 following a cardiac arrest and was laid to rest at the Model Colony graveyard in Karachi.
