TikTok Launches “Nearby Feed” Feature to Explore Local Content
Users can also change their location manually to view content from other cities or areas.
ISLMABAD: TikTok has introduced a new feature called “Nearby Feed”, allowing users to discover content related to nearby locations and local activities. The company says the feature aims to help users explore new places in their area and access local content easily.
The feature has initially launched in the UK, France, Italy, and Germany. It was first tested on a limited scale in Southeast Asia in 2022, then paused, but has now been reintroduced in selected countries.
How It Works:
-
Users will see videos based on their location, content topic, and posting time.
-
Content may include tourism, events, food, and other local activities.
-
Creators benefit by reaching more users in their city or region.
TikTok clarified that sharing location is optional and the feature is available only to users 18 years or older. Accounts belonging to minors (under 18) will not appear in the Nearby Feed. Similarly, content from private, friends-only, or “only you” accounts will also be excluded.
