TİKA to Restore Allama Iqbal Museum in Lahore
The restoration will also serve as a lasting symbol of the deep-rooted friendship and shared heritage between the two brotherly nations.
Lahore (News Desk) — As part of the Türkiye–Pakistan Cultural Week (October 28–31) held under the patronage of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, a significant step has been taken to preserve Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
A Letter of Intent was signed between the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the Directorate General of Archaeology, Department of Tourism, Archaeology & Museums, Government of Punjab for the rehabilitation of Javed Manzil, also known as the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Museum, in Lahore.
Commissioned by Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Javed Manzil is the historic residence where Iqbal lived and passed away. It was later converted into a museum dedicated to his life and works.

Under the agreement, TİKA will undertake the complete rehabilitation of the site, with the project expected to be completed by 2027 — coinciding with the 150th birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal.
The initiative aims to preserve and promote the cultural and intellectual legacy of Allama Iqbal, who holds a revered place in both Türkiye and Pakistan. The restoration will also serve as a lasting symbol of the deep-rooted friendship and shared heritage between the two brotherly nations.
