Those Convicted in May 9 Cases Should Go to Court, Not Make Noise: Attaullah Tarar

Tarar Urges Convicts to Accept Verdicts, Cites Shehbaz Case

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that individuals convicted in connection with the May 9 incidents should stop making noise and instead seek legal recourse through the courts.

Speaking during a session of the National Assembly, Tarar emphasized that justice has been served in accordance with the law regarding the events of May 9, when violent protests and attacks on military installations and martyrs’ memorials took place. He stated that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was behind the unrest, which he alleged was carried out through deliberate planning.

Referring to past legal proceedings, Tarar pointed out that even when Shehbaz Sharif’s mother passed away, the court did not grant him exemption from appearance. He urged those facing convictions to stop politicizing the matter and accept legal accountability.

The minister also paid tribute to late politician Mian Azhar, acknowledging a significant political vacuum left by his death. Tarar mentioned the long-standing family ties between Mian Azhar and the Sharif family, noting their historical importance in Lahore’s political landscape.
