The critically acclaimed play The White Plague is returning by popular demand, providing audiences with a compelling and timely examination of war, disease, and the intricacies of human nature.
Adapted from the celebrated Czech playwright Karel Čapek’s work and directed by Meher Jaffri, The White Plague is a biting satire that reflects on contemporary issues. It occupies a significant place in Pakistani theatre history as the final commissioned play of the iconic Zia Mohyeddin.
This production honors Zia Mohyeddin’s legacy by showcasing some of the most renowned talents from the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA).

Set against the backdrop of a looming global conflict and a deadly pandemic called the White Plague, the play follows a young doctor who discovers a cure for the disease. However, he stipulates a mysterious condition for sharing the remedy with the world.
Audiences in Karachi can catch this thought-provoking performance from August 21 to 25 at the Arts Council, while those in Lahore can view it from September 4 to 8 at the Alhamra Arts Council.
