The Rise of AI: Is it Stealing Students’ Creativity and Critical Thinking?

Technology is getting vast and fast day by day, and its proper use is making humans’ lives easy-going and dull.
As we notice, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education is too much. Students are getting addicted to AI. They want to get shortcuts in their studies by using Artificial Intelligence instead of using their own minds.

The frequent use of Artificial Intelligence in studies is like a giant that provides every solution to every problem at an eye blink. And students want this instead of using their own intelligence.

Due to this, they are losing their creativity and imagination power. By getting everything on AI platforms, they are reducing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Due to the reduction in critical thinking ability, it is becoming harder for an English literature student to get the correct meaning of any piece of literature, because literature is understood through personal interests and human psychology, and Artificial Intelligence cannot do that.

By using Artificial Intelligence frequently in their studies, students are decreasing their ability to express their ideas and point of views effectively. Because they are not creating or generating ideas by themselves, they are losing their thinking abilities gradually.

Now it is time to get students out from the influence of Artificial Intelligence by encouraging them. They should be taught to use Artificial Intelligence as an assistant, not as a replacement.

We should work to develop students critical thinking and writing skills through practice and after that taking their feedback. We should make students to practice improving their critical thinking by emphasizing the importance of originality and authenticity in writing by themselves.

Encouraging students to write on any topic by using their own intellect, this helps them to brainstorm certain ideas relative to a particular topic. This method not only ensures the independence from AI but also helps in their cognitive abilities’ development.

To save our youth becoming dull by the frequent use of Artificial Intelligence instead of critical thinking and use their own abilities is our duty.
