Ten Dead, Thirteen Injured in Karachi Building Collapse

Karachi (Web Desk): At least 10 people lost their lives and 13 others sustained injuries after a powerful explosion, reportedly caused by a gas leak, brought down a three-storey residential building in the Soldier Bazaar area of Karachi on Thursday.

The tragic incident occurred in Gul Rana Colony, where residents were caught off guard by the blast that led to the partial collapse of the structure. According to officials, emergency teams rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion was reported.

Rescue 1122 confirmed that all deceased and injured victims were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. Rescue workers managed to pull a young girl alive from the rubble, offering a rare moment of relief amid the devastation. Search and rescue operations continued for several hours, with urban search and rescue teams and disaster response vehicles deployed at the site.

Police officials stated that preliminary findings suggest the explosion was triggered by a gas leakage, which caused part of the building to cave in. The area was immediately cordoned off, and security was tightened to facilitate rescue efforts and prevent further casualties.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased included 60-year-old Muhammad Riaz and 10-year-old Nazia, while identification of the remaining victims was underway.
